I was excited to review the DENOTEK Windshield Car Phone Mount Holder because I love using my phone as a GPS, and legally the phone has to be mounted to the vehicle to avoid being ticketed for cell phone use while driving.

Everything you need to successfully mount any smartphone on your windshield is included in the package. The mount has a tacky surface with a suction cup to stick to the windshield and the phone is held in place with the aid of a strong magnet. Don't panic if your phone is not magnetic because the kit comes with 2 extra pieces. A magnetic insert which sits inside the phone case (and let's face it, most phones have protective cases these days) and for those who prefer a naked phone, there is an adhesive magnetic plate which sticks to the back of the phone.

Even through my chunky UAG case, the magnet was extremely effective holding my Galaxy S4 firmly in place. The magnet face is attached to the mount via a ball joint meaning the phone is fully poseable and can be adjusted through 360 degrees and tilted to the most convenient angle. At first the action was a little stiff, but has loosened with time so that the phone can be adjusted with a single hand.

There is a little vibration while driving, but the phone stays firmly on the mount. While the magnet is strong, it is not so strong that it makes removing the phone difficult. The mount also remains strongly attached to the windshield until removed and leaves no residue.

Overall I like the DENOTEK Windshield Car Phone Mount Holder, and use it whenever I am driving, however I am concerned that the ball joint which has already loosened in the few weeks of use so far may loosen more over time. I shall report back if that becomes the case.

EDIT: The loose ball joint can be tightened by twisting the locking nut which holds it in place so this is no longer an area of concern.
