I have always used the old school traditional tire pressure gauges, even with my love of gadgets and gizmos, I had never considered using a fancy digital TPG. Then the McLintech 5 In 1 Tire Pressure Gauge fell onto my desk needing an evaluation.
McLintech 5-in-1-Tire Pressure Gauge |
This is more than just a digital tire pressure gauge, it comes with an LED flashlight, LED safety light, a pop-out safety hammer, and a seat belt cutter, all contained in a neat little hand-held unit.
The pressure gauge measures tire pressure in PSI, bar, kPA, and kg/cm2, and you can cycle through these options by repeatedly pressing the shiny power button. Personally, I have never used anything other than PSI when inflating tires, but it's fun to have other options. Te pressure reading is delivered via the blue back-lit LED and remains displayed for a few seconds so that you can assimilate the data.
The LED flashlight is great for looking for your keys when you drop them by the car or for digging around in the trunk at night, but considering it's powered by a single AAA battery it;s not going to light your way home for very long. However, this is designed for auto use and not camping or 'trick or treating'.
Digital vs Old School - both give the same result |
The safety hammer is folded away until the release switch is pressed, and then it springs and locks into position. While I have not yet had the opportunity to test it on a real car window, it feels solid and has quite an effective point on it. I have every confidence that it will be up to the task if needed.
I also have not had a chance to cut a seat belt with the seat belt cutter, but I have tested it on envelopes, 2 shirts, and an old dog leash with great success. Again I am sure it will perform it's assigned duty when called upon.
Overall, I was very impressed by this 5-in-1 auto tool and I never drive anywhere without it. I would recommend it to anyone who spends time behind the wheel.
