"What is Nerdwax?" I hear you ask, "It sounds like some kind of wax that a nerd would use to stop his glasses sliding down his nose." Well you would be exactly right. I am here to tell you all about my experience with Nerdwax. While I do not consider myself to be a nerd, I do wear glasses that have nerd like qualities.
Do these glasses make me look nerdy? |
I have at times caught myself pushing my glasses back up my nose, especially when doing paperwork, since my face is constantly looking down of the desk. When I look up, my glasses have slipped from their regular comfortable position, and so it's time for the 'single finger spectacle repositioning maneuver'.
Nerdwax is a proprietary blend of beeswax and other cosmetic grade natural and organic ingredients which come in a lip balm style tube. It is applied to the nosepads of the glasses, to create a high friction layer which prevents the glasses from sliding down the nose. You can add as much or as little as you need depending on your daily needs. Use a little for a quiet day inside with the cat and a good book. Use a lot for mountain biking, beaver hunting or jet-skiing and other typical outdoor nerd activities.
How to use Nerdwax |
Applying Nerdwax was very simple, but at first I wasn't sure how much to put on so I started out just adding a little bit to my nosepads. I had to reapply frequently to maintain the slip-proof layer and keep my glasses in place. The directions suggest that the more you apply the longer it lasts, but that didn't work for me. Whether I put on a thick or a thin layer, my glasses were sliding again within an hour.
Nerdwax definitely works, but it doesn't work for me for longer periods of time. Even with the regular applications, it does not leave any residue on my face or on my glasses, so using it 4 or 5 times a day doesn't do any harm.
Revenge of the Nerdwax |
Overall this product does a great job, and if they could get Nerdwax to last all day by making ยตs>1 (to use a nerdy science term) then it would definitely get a 5 slap review.
Disclosure: I received this item for free in exchange for the honest and unbiased review above.
